The Academy

Project International have been running an Elite Sports Academy for almost 25 years. Starting with just Soccer, all our academies are now well established and improve year on year.

All 3 academies offer a choice of an English language course or multi-sport option which run in the afternoon after the specialised coaching has finished for the day.

The Venue

The Project International Elite Sports Academy will be based at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School in Dover in Kent. The school is 2 miles from the centre of the town and is easily accessible from all the London airports.

Duke of York’s was Britain’s first co-educational state-funded and administered school. It is surrounded by 150 acres of countryside close to the White Cliffs of Dover.

Facilities at this stunning campus include excellent sports facilities along with an auditorium, drama studio, and swimming pool.

The Participants

The Academy is open to boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 16 from all over the world, including Great Britain. We welcome individuals as well as organised groups and teams to the truly international environment that the Academy offers. Please note that the Elite Academy is NOT suitable for those who are at a very basic level or who merely want social soccer, dance or tennis.

Staffing & Pastoral Care

In addition to our top-quality coaching staff, we have our own Project International staff on site 24 hours a day. A Programme Director will oversee all aspects of the programme and they are in constant liaison with the soccer, tennis, dance coaches, the school representatives, caterers, group leaders and the students themselves as well as Head office.

We also have staff members in charge of Activities, EFL tuition, and Welfare who work together to plan and organise the course and to ensure we foster a caring and educational environment on campus. All staff are chosen for their ability to work with children and look after their various needs. They are aware that students are away from home, some of them for the first time and pastoral care is a major priority.

PI staff accompany the students on their trips and are responsible for getting the students up in the mornings. They ensure that they eat properly and that they get to bed at an appropriate time.

The Elite Sports Academy runs at the same time and on the same campus as one of our International Summer Schools. This gives our Elite sports Academy students the opportunity to mix with even larger International student numbers during their evening activities.

We include a full day excursion each week. This will, as far as possible, be related to the appropriate sport. Additionally, we plan half day trips to enrich the coaching programme and matches against local opposition for all sports where appropriate.

We can accommodate students on minimum 1 week stays. We recommend fortnight stays but 3 and 4 weeks stays are also possible.

WEEK 1 9th July 16th July
WEEK 2 16th July 23rd July
WEEK 3 23rd July 30th July
WEEK 4 30th July 6th August

We have qualified teachers on site. We offer an optional TEFL course (this must be pre-booked). 10 hours tuition per week is offered and children will be taught according to ability with emphasis placed on conversation and communication. All course materials are provided, and certificates are awarded at the end of each child’s stay. Further details on application.

Subject to availability and actual age ranges, we will endeavour to organise Tennis & Soccer matches against local English teams.

A structured evening programme is offered, organised by our Social Director and supported by other staff, and will include such activities as discos, barbeques, film shows, sports and games. Our staff are on hand throughout the day and evening.

Bethany has an exceptional reputation for high quality food in its excellent dining room. Emphasis is placed on a good dietary balance as well as popular food allowing for different cultural tastes. There are three meals provided each day with traditional English as well as continental breakfasts; lunch and dinner with hot/cold options, a vegetarian choice as well as a salad bar.

Multi Sport Sessions

At our Elite Soccer, Dance and Tennis Academies, those not taking the EFL option have supervised multi activity sessions. These include  swimming, water polo, volleyball, squash, table tennis, badminton, and lots more!

Accommodation in the school is split across 5 boarding houses. Rooms vary but consist mainly of singles to rooms of 5 beds. All boarding houses are well furnished with kitchens and large common room areas.
